Domestic Violence Awareness Month

  • Posted on October 3, 2017 at 3:14 pm

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and we have some activities planned this month in the spirit of spreading awareness.

  • On October 10th we will hold a walk of remembrance in Priest River starting at the Rivertown Mall onto the Merritt Bridge to remember those who have lost their lives to domestic violence. There will be flowers provided to drop into the  water. Everyone is invited to participate.
  • There are “Giver Your 2 Cents Against Domestic Violence” jars in stores throughout Priest River, Sandpoint, and Spirit Lake. Drop in your change to help support our shelters.
  • PRMAFW will be at Mitchell’s in Priest River on the 17th and 19th collecting food and supplies for families in crisis. Please donate.
  • A Community That Cares The Annual Luncheon/Fashion Show/Raffle is at 12:00 on the 29th at the Priest River High School. Please bring your friends!

Priest River is the first.

Inland Northwest Community Foundation continues to support the relief of violence in our communities. We are humbled and proud to do this work, and we are grateful for the continued support of this Foundation. Because of a generous grant from the Equinox Grant, we have the funds to open our 3rd DV/SA office including Phoebe’s Place, a free clothing store in Spirit Lake in Sept.

Want to help your community, but don’t know where to start?

Lies Overcome by the Love of Christ

This is our published booklet. Its purpose is to help victims of sexual assault, especially those who have been drugged and have no memory of their assailant. Please help us get these booklets out to survivors. Since all materials are free, we are asking for funding. Please consider tithing to this project or asking your church. We have the booklets at all of our offices and would be happy to give you one. As far as we know, there is no other information out there, especially nothing biblical. This started out as the therapy work of a DFSA survivor and ended up to be a collaborations with a DV survivor, the Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence, and Priest River Ministries Advocates for Women. This is going to be and amazing resource, orchestrated by and amazing God!
